(new) normalcies
OH. MY. It has been QUITE A TIME. Never has it occurred on my blog that the amount of change since my last post would be THIS. MUCH. I figured since I have a bit more time on my hands, I should probably write about some updates. Might. As. Well. (riiiiiieeeght??)
!(•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑ • Working Remotely
At Mariners Church, we started working remotely a week or two or so before the Stay-At-Home initiative really took in effect. At first, it was pretty nice because working remotely used to be our wishful thinking in the office. (Who wouldn’t want to work from home in their PJs, no makeup, lounging on the couch???) I learned that in the nature of our work as the Communications team, the amount of work was definitely the same, if not more, because of the new content we had to create in response to covid19. It was fine and in a sense, I felt a little more accomplished getting everything done because of the circumstance and at times, the urgency at which things were needed. We got into a nice work rhythm with video calls, constant slack messaging and daily GIF memes on the #funny thread. Thank God for video calls because seeing faces of co-workers made the situation a lot more manageable.
!(•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑ • New Opportunities
Amidst all the craziness and uncertainty of everything, I recently got hired at a new job! I admit that starting a new job remotely was definitely new and of course not ideal, but it was a blessing for sure to even be considered during this time •_•. I will forever be grateful for my 4 years 11 months at Mariners—for the work I’ve done, the amazing people/coworkers/friends I’ve met and made, and the impact I was able to be a part of. I’m excited for this new chapter!
!(•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑ • Wat I Do Now Tho
Welps! Besides working I have been doing a number of things, starting with deh video games:
Diablo III = lots of mass demon slaying and destroying a bunch of crap XD
Stardew Valley = Haven’t played it a whole lot recently, but then again, it’s winter on my farm so it’s kind of slow.
World of Warcraft-ing has gone slow too…
Sims 4 = THIS is where I live rn. Living vicariously through my sims because they’re actually able to go out. (and they are successful with a lot of cheddars)
I AM WAITING to pick up my Final Fantasy 7 Remake bundle from my place in Irvine because I’ve been waiting YEARS to play it.
Outside of video games, I’ve been trying to play around more with Logic Pro and making some melodies/beats. Justin and I started writing a new song and hopefully we’ll finish it soon or at least dive into more rough song writing.
Watching anime = Right before the quarantine I finished up Demon Slayer, a very great show and highly recommend. I finished another show in 2 nights (not always good because I finish watching too fast). I also watched one called Junei Taisen: Zodiac War, which was far too short with 12 episodes, but the storyline was so interesting and I had my share of jaw drop moments and the fight scenes…. MY GAH they were so good. I’m getting back into watching Darling in the Franxx, Blue Exorcist and Bungo Stray Dogs. I have WAY too many shows in my list, but what a perfect time to catch up. :3
Rewatching favorite shows = The Office, Community, Parks and Rec. I paused my Hulu account but that’s where my suuper favorite shows are :’(. I shall borrow a login.
Half-watching a FIlipino drama my parents are invested in as I play Sims. I think we go through at least 10 episodes a day haha.
Notice I did not put cooking or working out on there—I’m still working on it.
Anywho, I didn’t intend this post to be suuuper wordy but here we is. It’s still a surreal and crazy and weird time and I have definitely taken a lot of things for granted when it comes to not being able to go out whenever I want. Like I said in my last post (months ago), I’m hoping to blog more with photos that I’ve taken in recent years! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy! Thank you to the 2 of you for reading hahaa
